Dear Neighbors,
The teams working on the substance use disorder (SUD) facilities on Bald Hill Road and Ridge Road want to let you know how to help with our collective concerns regarding these facilities.
We are and have been working to understand what these units are and provide information to you, our community.
Our teams live here too! We are upset, angry, frustrated, and fear for our families safety, our community, etc. The character of the community we have come to love, and treasure is being changed by these facilities.
The Bald Hill and Ridge Road teams have engaged with the business owners and staff members at these facilities. We are struggling to attain transparency and understanding of how these facilities can just be placed in a community with no notification to the current community members.
We are working through piles of documents and conversations with Placer County Health & Human Services (HHS) and California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to provide our community answers.
Your participation and action now is critical in our efforts to block further development of these facilities.
Read below to see how you can help.

Write your representatives, contact them, express your concerns, how the character of the neighborhood is now changing, what this can do to your property values – your primary investment!
Contact the newspaper, the mayor, the sheriff, the fire department – all of which are going to be impacted by these homes being in rural areas like ours. See the list below. We have tried to draft an example letter below. Feel free to write your own – the more you express your concerns the better!
Channel your frustrations by talking to your representatives and addressing your concerns with the services already under stress in our community.
SUGGESTED CONTACT LISTED AT BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE
– call, email, or write – or do all!
EXAMPLE LETTER:
Sir/Madam, We the neighbors that adjoin and surrounding residents that are actively being converted into residential 6-bed or 16-bed substance use disorder (SUD) facilities for alcohol and drug use recovery have MAJOR CONCERNS not being effectively addressed. To date, many of us have heard of or had meetings with our communities and/or with the owners or staff working in these residences. We are upset, frustrated, angry, and we feel used due to no fault of our own other than living in a rural area. NO communication was given to the community prior to the purchase of these properties and now we are faced with a dramatic change in the character of our rural neighborhood. The owners, if they speak with us, are claiming there will be no difference, no change, they will be transparent, etc. Sadly, transparency is completely lacking and currently they have been less than forthcoming with our concerns. We have submitted questions, request responses in writing only, to receive a “sales” call or an offer to “chat” or come “visit”, AND we have been told by the facility representatives that we can’t stop this, the “license is in the mail”, “admitting clients in December”, etc. Are these threats to our community?
Our MAJOR CONCERNS start with the following:
Many of us feel safe with our neighbors, we have known them for years. Many of us were born here, grew up here, and have been contributing to the community and society. While we are compassionate and caring for the concerns of those suffering from addictions, we also expect that the county and state will extend the same care to us the community. We expect communication, to protect our rights as residents and taxpayers in this community. We expect to know exactly how clients are vetted, we expect transparency as to what is being pushed upon us.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME AND CONTACT HERE….
